Magna Trees courtesy of Smith's Food and Drug
Smith's has generously donated a limited number of trees to residents of Magna. The trees were selected for Magna's soil and growing conditions. They will be available for pickup at the Smith's Food and Drug store at 8055 West 3500 South on June 13.
Volunteers are needed to assist residents with pickup and planting. This is a great Boy Scout project! Contact Ann Mildenhall at 468-3570 to get involved.
2008 Arbor Day (Month!) Celebrations
Utah's State Arbor Day celebration will take place at the Capitol building on Tuesday, April 22th. Check with your city for local Arbor Day celebrations and tree plantings.
West Valley City will celebrate on April 25 with the following events, both of which need volunteers (509-1939):
Eagle Scout project: Fassio Farm Park, 3720 S 5200 W. 9:00 am, 15 trees
Arbor Day with 50 elementary age children: Westview Park, 6210 W. 4100 S. 10:00 am, 8 trees
TreeUtah will celebrate Arbor Day on April 26 by planting fruit trees at the EcoGarden at the Day-Riverside Library. Find their entire calendar of community tree planting events at www.treeutah.org.
Bend in the River is looking for volunteers for a variety of projects this month.
South Jordan Cityis having a biggest and oldest tree contest and will be planting trees in Riverfront Park on Friday, April 25: 11235 South 900 West, (801) 253-5236.
