Mayor Corroon has made environmental sustainability and quality of life hallmarks of his administration.

That is why Mayor Corroon is announcing One Million Trees for One Million People, a ten-year campaign to plant one million trees in Salt Lake County by 2017. With your help, we will grow a community forest that will provide a wealth of benefits throughout Salt Lake County.

One simple and effective way to contribute to the health and well-being of future generations is to plant trees.  Trees, like libraries, museums, and parks, are investments in a shared future. Trees and the urban forest canopy they comprise are our County's green infrastructure.

The urban or community forest makes our cities and county livable. As our population grows the urban forest becomes an essential component of our quality of life.

The One Million Trees campaign is designed to involve our youngest children and our oldest citizens in the regeneration of our urban landscape. It is an ambitious but achievable campaign based on community partnerships and collaboration. We want to involve every resident in projects designed to beautify our neighborhoods, bring us together, and reduce the impacts of living in a rapidly growing area.

As we develop the campaign we will need volunteers, project ideas, community leadership, and lots of shovels!  Find out how you can get involved. In the meantime, explore the world of trees and learn more about the benefits of community forests.
